Sticky characters: how a recurring character grows a loyal audience

Why channels with a mascot (stickman, owl professor, robot) get followed, and how to set one up in two clicks.

Viewers forget topics, but they remember characters. A recurring host gives every episode the same face, so people recognise your videos in a fast-scrolling feed and come back for the next one.

Owl professor character
The owl professor works well for facts and science channels.

Characters that work

  • Stickman: explainers, life lessons, 'what if' videos.
  • Owl professor or grandpa: facts, history, bedtime stories.
  • Robot or alien: tech news, space, comedy.
  • Your own mascot: upload one image and it is used as a reference in every scene.

Set it up

  1. 1Choose a characterIn Quick start, Single video or the wizard's Style step, pick a preset or upload your own image.
  2. 2Keep the style fixedUse the same art style for every episode so the character always looks the same.
  3. 3Give it a catchphraseAdd it in the script instructions, for example: 'Each episode ends with the owl saying: Hoot hoot, stay curious!'
